Sorry Steve...Posted this above in post #7.
I just decided the difference in the two gauges wasn't enough to risk it.
But I may try to fix the broken needle on the other one, and see if I can put together another '83 cluster.Bob T. ~~ Play the GSR weekly photo game: Pic of Week Game

Ahhh, ... so the weapon was "caution". Probably the best choice.

Well I hadn't notice until you said something, now I have to fix it.
There is some slop in the mounting holes. Should be able to just loosen it up a bit to fix it.
But today, I managed to pull the broken needle off the '83 gauge, and the good needle off the '82 gauge using these:

Each one came apart at a different spot, so I had to pull the brass middle piece off on of the shafts and install it in the needle.

Lined everything up, and pressed it on carefully with my thumbs. It took a whole lot of pressure.
I think it is sitting a little proud of where it should, but I didn't want to press harder. It does clear the glass and looks fine.

More to follow....Bob T. ~~ Play the GSR weekly photo game: Pic of Week Game

If it's not too late, I'd spray some new paint on that needle.Well I hadn't notice until you said something, now I have to fix it.

Nice job, especially considering the unbelievably sloppy condition some pig sent them in. I suspect you already have stainless front brake lines, no?"When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why they are poor, they call me a communist." Bishop Helder Camara

The box was fine. Nothing broke that wasn't already broke. Plus I moved it also, without repacking, and everything was fine.
Thanks again....Bob T. ~~ Play the GSR weekly photo game: Pic of Week Game
