More melted wires/connectors

Hi guys, l have a 82 Gs850g in Australia and I am in the process of fixing my wiring loom as l too have found the green plug behind the headlight melted together. My question is I have the on/ off switch headlight switch on my model what do l do. Thanks in advance.

Get a SH775 Series type R/R too. It helps protect the stator from overheat damage.

Thanks, l have been looking for them, though seem impossible to get them in Australia and the postage from the States is more than the R/R. Also do you know if I need any of the 4 wires that go to the green plug behind the headlight or just leave it unplugged. Thanks again.

Disregard that last comment, of course I need to plug the green plug back together it is ignition switch. Bike is sending me loopy

Is it only 2 wire that go to the headlight from the stator?

Strictly speaking it's only one but then it doubles back so two if you like.

This is how to wire the R/R, even if you don't use a SH775, although you should.

BTW, shipping to AU is $43 USD. A good used SH775 can be found for about $50 USD, or I have a couple that have been tested that I sell for $65.

I have a 1979 GS750E and I’m replacing the stator and R/R. Does having a 1979 mean I can’t bypass the loop the the headlight?

Nope. Get a SH775 and wire like shown.

Regarding the loop that goes to the headlight, should I connect the male and female bullet connectors by the fuse box to close the loop or just tape them off?

Best practice would be tape them up and hide them. They cause a lot of confusion when owners find them
