Speedo only reads up to 10 MPH 1977 GS400

I took my GS400 for a little test ride and I noticed that the speedo only went up to 10 mph. The tach and other gauges seemed to work fine. Does anyone have any advice besides taking off the speedo and greasing it and lubing the cable?

The issue is in the drive on the wheel, the cable or the speedo.
Sounds like you ruled out the cable.

Easy way to test is unhook the cable from the wheel, and use a drill to see if that tells you anything.

    Check like halfway this vid.

You did not mention anything about it working properly before, or work done like new tires that could have caused the drive to be reinstalled.
That could be done wrong, bending the tabs on the speedo drive unit which would cause it to fail.

Try disconnecting the cable. The speedo won't work at all then, but at least you''ll know why.

I like the tip, Rijko-Thanks! I've got a taco that's slow responding, and a new cable didn't improve its' response. Live & Learn as they say...
