Head Gasket Area Pitting

I'm overhauling my '80 GS450's engine. I was cleaning up the bottom of the head, and I discovered some substantial pitting in the area between the cylinders and the slot for the cam chain. It's more than 1/4" from the combustion chamber, so I'm hoping that I can basically ignore it. Pictures below.

There's also a scattering of small pits in the combustion chamber area that you can sort of see in the second picture. Thoughts? How worried should I be about either of these?

It will more than likely be fine but you can have it surfaced by a machine shop for not much money.

I'd just fill in the pits with some JB Weld, you should be fine.

I wouldn't bother... once the head gasket goes in there and gets torqued down it won't make a difference.

Mine had similar but I got my head and cylinders wet blasted which is a non-abrasive method of blasting and it cleaned it all up like new... He also did the combustion chamber and again, like new...
