What to do?
It was -30 Celcius yesterday when I tried to remove the side covers from my 80 gs1100. The rubber grommet that holds the tab on the right side cover was so stiff that it broke the tab off. Is there any way that Crazy glue or maybe Jb Weld might make a permanent repair or should I rebuild it using one of the methods here. Maybe I should just look for another side cover?

Haven't done it myself but consensus is that the best repair is ABS and acetone mixed into a slurry and then applied to the affected parts. Search the forum for side cover repair, you will find lots of threads. And then get some new grommets.

Devcon Plastic Welder. Its a two part epoxy style adhesive that bonds like noones business and wont let loose. put the piece back in line with the crack after applying the glue and maybe a little on the outer perimeter to act as a reinforcement. Let it cure over night and you should be all set.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.Comment

I try to lay a piece of fibreglass or carbon fibre woven cloth reinforcement over a repair to plastic parts embedded in a layer of the same epoxy used on the face of the break.97 R1100R
