I broke mine. I have spares on 750 engines, 1000 engines, but how can I get it out without breaking the glass? Heat?

I think someone once said they got a Kawasaki kit that fits the GSs hole as well. Dont remember the thread but i vaguely remember the fitment issue was brought up.

Why not just replace the lens and reinsert the gauge with some good RTV around the edges to prevent leaks. Maybe heat it a little when reinstalling to make the rubber a little more cooperative???

It was me, earlier in this thread, and there is no fitment issue.

I think I'll just press the old one out of the 750's cover.
Can't break two in one day, can I?

Yes.....LOL. maybe a little heat to make it fight less? Maybe stick it in a big pot of boiling water as to not damage the actual lens in any way.

I used a heat gun but it didn't get loose enough to push by hand. Burnt my thumb too, gloves weren't thick enough. I'll get the press set up, move a bike or two out of the way,
proper sized sockets and such ready, heat it again and she'll slide right out. Or break. Hey the powder coat oven is still kinda warm, I'll just throw it in there a few minutes.

The one I broke was definitely glass. The one I haven't broken yet, pressed hard enough I was afraid of bending the cover, it didn't budge.

Put a new one in today, the Suzuki part. Very hard to push in, had to use the press and push pretty hard too. There must be a secret to doing this that I don't know.

Put the part in the freezer. When you're ready to install it, hit the case cover with a blow drier to warm it up a bit. The sight glass should press in relatively easily. Once the temps equalize it should stay put.
