Center stand rubber stopper on gs850l

Is my rubber stopper on my center stand bent or is this how it is? Center stand does not rest flush with the rubber

Yes, it's bent. The parts fiche (G model) doesn't show that bracket either

Thanks! That's what I thought but sometimes you never know.

Sounds like you already knew it though. If it doesn't look right, it probably isn't.

Maybe pull the part and remove the rubber bumper, then hit it with a torch till it's red hot and straighten it.

If I remember , I will try to get a picture from under my wife's 850L tonight, so you can see what it's supposed to look like.

              I remembered.

Here is what it looks like under her bike. The rubber should basically be parallel to the ground.

So how does one bend that part anyway?

How did it happen, or how do you un-bend it?

As to the former, I'm imagining some sort of Dukes of Hazzard style jump, while shouting "yeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhaaaaawwwwwwwww!"

As to the latter, I'm thinking crescent wrench.

Hahaha, yeah I was wondering how it happened.

Well, it might not all be Dukes of Hazzard.

If the return spring is particularly "enthusiastic", and you use the center stand a LOT, it might move just a little bit every time the stand slams home.
After about 35 years of such activity, it's conceivable that it would be just a bit out of place.

That explains a little mystery to me. I don't have that rubber stopper or bracket on mine and the center stand is always swinging. Will have to fabricate one this summer or check out the scrap yard to see if there is one there.
