Get a silicone gasket from Real Gaskets.
They're the same price as the OEM one, they can be reused indefinitely, and THEY DON'T LEAK. I have them for both my 750 and 850.
The '78 750 takes the same one as the early 850 P/N RG-GS850-G1 The 850 is just a bored out 750. It uses the same head and valve cover.
They're great people to deal with as well.
Pay attention to the directions about torqueing the bolts. You need to go only about 1/2 to 3/4 turn after finger tight, and you should check them after the first time or two the engine gets hot.
If you do a search here you'll find other info about them.Comment

Are the 1978 and 1979 the same gasket? There is not a breather gasket listed for a 1978 gs750
Originally posted by DimitriTI used realgaskets.com on both bikes. The are about the same price and they work perfectly and will last forever. Don't forget the breather cover while your at it.Comment
