carb trouble
Hi,first i would like to say that i love this site, lots of info on everything concerning gs's.My bike is a 1981 gs750L, great bike but i cant seem to get the darn thing to stay running, first gas started comming out of the air filters (individual k&Ns) and it flooded my plugs,i went and got new plugs and it started right up, but 30 seconds later my bike just shut off and cant seem to stay on without the choke fully open.I have had the bike for about a year but since this past winter its been doing this.I really want to go out and ride but i cant get nowhere, plus there are no suzuki mechanics anywhere around me. So please any help would be awsome im tired of my friends sayin "that would of never happend if you bought a honda".Tags: None -
Time for a carb rebuild. Check the following link and walk through the process. Be warned, if you short cut the process you will wind up doing the job two times. You've been warned.

"that would of never happend if you bought a honda".
Yeah, It happens to them also.
If gas flooded your carbs you have a problem with the petcock, if its a vacuum actuated or the floats and or float valves. If you have a petcock with two hoses pull the smaller one off and see if gas comes out with the control in any position. If it does replace the petcock. If it doesn't then its time to pull the carbs and fix the float valve issue. If your mechanically inclined use the carb series on this site or get a manual.
If you put your location in your profile maybe we can tell you about a mechanic in your area!Last edited by Guest; 05-23-2007, 08:29 AM.Comment

Unfortunately, most of the generic carb kits don't have the O-rings for the fuel tubes connecting the carbs together. They also often don't have various other O-rings either.
There is a member here that sells O-ring kits. Well worth the money.Ed
