oil leak? whats it called?
alright my 650 has a oil leak on the back side of the motor. Under the carbs there is something bolted to the jugs. Does anyone know what that is called? Or what its for? Thanks in advance

$3 gasket. But usually you have to remove the carbs to get to it.Comment

Might be just the gasket, might also be the o-rings in the tensioner itself.
Brian Wringer has an excellent pictorial on how to repair it. \\

Steve, thanks for the link. I've been waiting for that to pop up again (lazy)Might be just the gasket, might also be the o-rings in the tensioner itself.

so that I could print it off and add it to the stack of "better than factory" illustrations and explinations in the clymers book.

The small seal is the part that invariably leaks the most, but the small o-ring is also usually leaking a bit. You have to replace the large o-ring when you disassemble the tensioner, but it's normally not leaking.

Also make sure it's not coming from the front of the engine and running in between the cylinders to the rear.Comment
