    Cam chain guide

The cam chain guide on my 79 GS1000S - the small triangular one that bolts to the head, pt no 12791-45040 ('guide, cam chain No. 4') has cracked. Looking at the parts diagram on alphasports it looks like it's only fixed with one bolt whereas the one I took off my bike is fixed with 2 bolts. Is the parts diagram wrong or have I got something different?

Dunno, but I've noticed before with the alpha sports diagrams, a discrepancy or two. Are you sure you have the right year model on the diagram?

Yep-right year. Also looked at 78 and 80 diagrams and they are the same.

Reality trumps the fiche every time...

That sounds very similar to the guide in a GS850 (any year). Can you throw up a photo so's we can verify what you have?
