Had plug fouling issues-2and 3- small brush and de-oxit to the coil connections and wa-la. power is back! Me likey De-oxit.:-D

de-ox good! whenever i get a chance i clean and de-ox some connections. if this was done at the factory it might have saved a lot of stators.

Since the subject is electrical connections, what do you do to replace/repair bullet connectors that have gone bad? Can you buy them to attach to bare wires, or is it common to replace both ends with blade-type connectors sold everywhere?

I believe if you do a search, you'll see where the most common suggestion is to actually replace all the connectors with the blade type. The bullet ones suck. I have a lot of them on my GS that have been temporarily crimped together with a pair of pliers until I get time to replace them to keep them from coming apart.

i've used blade and bullet connectors as replacements. my own opinion is that, as long as it's protected from dirt and corrosion, either type should work ok.

you can buy both types (bullet and blade) and a sturdy crimping tool. opens up a whole new world of electrical repair possibilities. the reason i've used both is that i never seem to have enough of one type to do everything so i used what i had. connectors really aren't cheap and they seem to be something i always forget to get more of. could be an old guy thing.

The best thing is to eliminate and solder any connections you can live without. Deox the rest.

I found another use for Caig Deoxit spray unrelated to electrics. If you spray the stuff on rubber/neoprene parts, they will swell . There are many places this might come in handy (in a pinch) on these old bikes.
