Since the subject is electrical connections, what do you do to replace/repair bullet connectors that have gone bad? Can you buy them to attach to bare wires, or is it common to replace both ends with blade-type connectors sold everywhere?Comment

I believe if you do a search, you'll see where the most common suggestion is to actually replace all the connectors with the blade type. The bullet ones suck. I have a lot of them on my GS that have been temporarily crimped together with a pair of pliers until I get time to replace them to keep them from coming apart.Comment

i've used blade and bullet connectors as replacements. my own opinion is that, as long as it's protected from dirt and corrosion, either type should work ok.2002 bmw r1150gs 1978 gs1000E skunk les pew 1982 GS1100

you can buy both types (bullet and blade) and a sturdy crimping tool. opens up a whole new world of electrical repair possibilities. the reason i've used both is that i never seem to have enough of one type to do everything so i used what i had. connectors really aren't cheap and they seem to be something i always forget to get more of. could be an old guy thing.2002 bmw r1150gs 1978 gs1000E skunk les pew 1982 GS1100

I found another use for Caig Deoxit spray unrelated to electrics. If you spray the stuff on rubber/neoprene parts, they will swell
. There are many places this might come in handy (in a pinch) on these old bikes.
