Any ideas on stopping rattle from stock exhaust pipe, 82GS850G?

It probably is loose. These things actually tend to rust from the inside out. They get condensation trapped in them over the years, even with that little "drain" hole at the bottom, which often becomes clogged with soot and ceases to function as it should. -
To fix it, at least for a while, you can drill a small hole in the bottom (where you can't see it) and put in a sheet metal screw. The idea is that the screw will catch the loose baffle and secure it. You might need to try a few different screws.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

Are you sure it's the baffel ratteling ? The little covers, that hide where the muffler connects to the header pipes, are bad about coming loose & ratteling. Sometimes the screws get loose & sometimes the spot weld will come loose. Worth a look see, before drilling holes. Just my opinion.1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw.
