Intake boots/flange

im going to replace the intake boots(82 gs1100gk) but i need to no what the measurement is for the circumference and the distance between studs.being i dont have my carbs off yet i cant even begin to guess but this is what the have listed

26 thru 28mm Carb Size, 60mm Distance Between Studs, Rubber Flange
30 thru 34mm Carb Size, 60mm Distance Between Studs, Rubber Flange
30 thru 34mm Carb Size, 75mm Distance Between Studs, Rubber Flange

I don't know where you got all this information. Just go to flatout, bike bandit, Z1 or your local dealer and order by year and model.

You'll get the correct ones.

i found that info at jc whitney there 10 dollars cheaper than bike bandit but no just looking bike bandit lists 2 left hand and 2 right hand i didnt know there was a difference or is there

i think i know where this is coming from, as i thought the same thing.

mikuni makes intakes, and im willing to bet the ones you are seeing are one in the same or knockoffs.

but, to oblige you, from what i remember on mine when i disassembled (79 gs1000) they were 2 1/8" with is a hair under 54mm center to center. could be wrong.

Intake Ports?

I'm working on a bike for the first time myself...
Are you guys referring to the short couplings between the carbs and the cylinder head?

I haven't removed mine from the head yet but one of them seems to have been worked over with some silicon sealant at some point or other, as if it had been leaking.

From what I have gathered it looks like I should find a rubber o-ring against the head. Is that correct? And if I find a crack in the coupling where can I find them and what are they called.

Yes we are talking about the rubber boots that go from mot to carbs.if they have silicone on them to repair a crack you should replace them.yes there is an o ring between them and the cylinder that should be replaced too,ive found everything ive been looking for at bike bandit but by all means look around theres cheaper places andf theres a member on here that sells the o rings id throw my cash his way

I searched through the links on BikeCliff's site. They have PN's for 80's plus model intake boots but I cant seem to find a source for new ones for my 78.

Any ideas?

You have to get these from SUZUKI. The aftermarket boots do not fit.

In other words, go to the fiches for OEM parts on http://bikebandit.com or http://flatoutmotorcycles.com

You'll find them on the cylinder head parts diagram.

You can also go to your local Suzuki dealer to order them, but it'll likely cost you more. However, they will look up the parts for you if you can't figure out the online parts diagrams.

Like he said, the 80 and later GS 1000s use a different carb, and thus a different intake boot.
