Brown wire in headlight housing goes where?

I've got a brown wire (female end) in the headlight housing which has no mate anywhere to be found. Does this belong to something that wasn't an option on my 80 850L in the US?

check your wiring harness, but it is a spare for running lights that is un used.

+1 on that. If memory serves it is connected to a "City Light" on European models.

              Thanks for ending that mystery.

Is the "City Light" something used when riding right as opposed to parked? I never used the brown wire had just seen it mentioned as part of running light conversions.

Don't know about the city light wiring, but that brown wire is what powers the running lights in the turn signals on my wife's '82 850L.
