I have a front Sport Demon that has outlasted 1 &1/2 rears, but is badly cupping. On this mornings inspection, I discovered a lamination that runs transversely across the tread. I was dismayed to find this, as I have a pretty high regard for these tyres general performance. Is lamination a general regular occurance across brands, or should I be weary of replacing this tyre with a replacement Sport Demon?

I don't think that's anything to do with lamination, not sure what it is. Good time to ask some tire experts?Comment

This tire looks pretty well used up so no real loss in tossing it.

No knives involved here. I could see that glazed look in your eyes Bill.
When I peel back the rubber, I can see the shinny surface of rubber at an oblique angle to a depth of around 2-3 mm. IMO, definately a molding flaw.
If it were in a steel section, it would have been caused by the metal cooling too fast during the extrusion process. Possibly the same for rubber.:) The road to hell is paved with good intentions......................................
