Identify this gasket
I received an Athena top end gasket kit and I know where everything goes but this gasket, of which two were supplied. Please help me know where it is supposed to be installed, and if you can also read palms, I'm not interested in knowing my future at this point. Thanks!

They seal the oil feed passage on the cylinder base gasket. Go to one of the various on-line parts fishe and check for yourself.Ed

no not #5 you need to pull up the engine case picture.
Nessim has it correctly
they reside in-between under the cylinders base to the top of engine case at the rear of the cylinders, around the cylinder studs in a tiny same shape recess. (like around #6)
that picture looks like a KZ to me.SUZUKI , There is no substituteComment

After looking at the correct diagram for my bike, it would appear that they are not needed.Similar to this...

The fishe at Alpha-sport.com says those oblong O-rings are needed. Please check your engine to see if there is a recess in the case, around the studs to capture the O-ring. You will know what I'm talking about when you see the top of the case. After looking at the correct diagram for my bike, it would appear that they are not needed.

Nice close-up! However, that o-ring looks like a badly molded POS.
I'd order new ones from Suzuki -- no way I'd install an o-ring that looked that haggard.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

I've only got the valve covers removed so far and plan to take the rest down this weekend. I will certainly look for the recess.Comment

FYI, found in my manual that those o-rings are only for chain driven bikes and my GS has a shaft drive.Comment
