GS katana 1100cc question
I have two 1982 1100cc katanas. But when I look at the number on the cylinder base block the actual cc size is 1075, but the other katana has a 1074. What is the difference between these two engine. Please let me know anyone. thanksTags: None -
i assume your not in the states?
in the US large 82 katana's was 1000cc.
they became 1100's in 83.
i have seen 80-82 GS1100E cylinders say both 1074 and 1075. -

I live in the US but one of the katanas was originaly from canda. I was told that one of the castings is a rare find on katanas but I don't know which one is the 1074 or 1075? Or are they all common. Don't know?Comment

I used to think the 1074s were from ther eight valve 1100s but I've actually seen them on the sixteen valve.Comment

SO it sound like both the block are fairly common and used on the 16 valve engines. If anyone know more about this mystery let me know.Comment

1074 & 1075 both common although the cc is the same at 1075cc this was done to get around the import & racing regulations of some country's eg 1075cc bikes were heavilly taxed or illegal for racing, & the cheeky orientals just changed the number but nothing else & kept quiet
The 1000 kat is the rare one & very sought after, more powerful out of the crate & origanally built for racing when the upper limit was reduced to 1000cc, sold to the public in relitively small numbers, eg just enough to make it race legal
hope it helps
