    Parts Help

    These are stupid questions probably.
I am ordering a new set of rings for my '82 GS850G from PartShark.
Using the search function I was able to find out that I need to order P/N 12140-45121.
First question, do I need to order 4 or 1 of P/N 12140-45121 for all four pistons?

Second, does anyone know the size of bolt #24 on the parts fiche?

It is one of the cam chain tensioner bolts. I need a new one due to the old one being destroyed during removal.

that part number is for 1 set of rings, so you need to order 4 lots for all pistons

      Hi,

Your link is no good, but I found it. #24 is part number 09128-06017.

It's a 6x??mm bolt but I can't tell from the part number how long it is (I don't have a parts list at work). Is the description in your manual? The same bolt is used on a lot of bikes; 400 ('77-'78), 425 ('79), 750 ('77-'79), 850 ('79-'83).

      Thank you for your indulgence,

The cam chain tensioner on a GS850/early GS750 is held on with two 6X25mm bolts and one 6X20mm bolt.

No idea what I had for lunch, but I remember this stuff...

You can see 'em here -- the shorter 20mm bolt is the one with the wrench on it.

I replaced mine with stainless socket head bolts.

Cool that's the information that I needed.
