seat step?
Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I have a new seat cover for my 81 GS1100e I'm thinking I'd like a little step to keep me in place under acceleration. I've re-covered a few seats and would like to trim the foam a little but I also want it wrinkle free, can a small step be done without sewing?Tags: None

Impossible to say without knowing about the cover, and step shape. And even at that, the proof is in the doing.Ed

Mine had that done by the original owner. The standard GS1000 came with a flat seat like the "S" did in '79. After the foam was cut the cover was just wrapped under and fastened with the tabs under the seat and doesn't show any wrinkles. What they're using for vinyl on the aftermarket seat may or may not behave the same. Personally I wished it was left stock.

Get some self adhesive bathtub grip strips and your butt wont slide when you goose it. Adhesive may jack up the seat cover so choose your battle wisely.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I feel like this cover has had some interior slick-em applied. I've cleaned it and tried Avon skin so soft which has softened and cleaned my other vinyl seats including a 69 that's still going strong.
I'm thinking I'll put on the new seat cover as is and see how it feels. The old one has genuine stitching, the replacement is heat pressed. I have some 1/2" polyester upholstery product that seems to allow for the shrinking of old seat foam. That might soften up the cushion a bit too.
