Good day in the garage today!
Got the front forks, front wheel & tire, headlight ears, turn signals, guage cluster, handlebars, master cylinder, throttle, front brake splitter and some of the brake lines on it today.
Starting to look like a motorcycle again!

It will take some work. Get the bike on a diet, brake update, change wheels to spokes for larger, better tires and go to a 18" front tire. Changing to a 18'' front wheel makes a big difference. It's fun when the track day guy's dont know what your running. It's also a good place to sort out a new bike or build. No traffic, deer or cops. If the bike breaks my truck and trailer are within walking distance.Originally posted by Buffalo Bill View PostI'd like to adapt a bike like that for track and see how it competes with the 600 mob.Last edited by limeex2; 02-06-2023, 09:53 AM.Current Rides: 82 GS1100E, 00 Triumph 955 Speed Triple:twistedevil:, 03 Kawasaki ZRX1200, 01 Honda GL1800, '15 Kawasaki 1000 Versys

Started the dreaded cover polishing today.
Still have a stator cover, clutch cover, engine breather cover and a sprocket cover to get cleaned up! Looks like this may take a while!
Glad I've already polished the carb parts!

Wondering if there's a way to make the covers look OEM? The ones I've polished wound up looking good, but more like chrome than the OEM silver. Just wondering if there's a way?1983 GS1100E, 1983 CB1100F, 1991 GSX1100G, 1996 Kaw. ZL600 Eliminator, 1999 Bandit 1200S, 2005 Bandit 1200S, 2000 Kaw. ZRX 1100

Today was a biggie! Sorry no pics.
Got the carbs and airbox installed so.............might as well fire it up!
Started, reved and idled well after a little fiddlin'. That Delkevic exhaust is LOUD! (But I like it!)
I've got to heat cure the engine paint before I get too carried away. Then it's on to checking for exhaust leaks, oil leaks, checking the charging system, etc, etc, etc.
Less than 90 days since I brought her home. Not bad for an old geezer! (Being retired helps!)

I've a feeling the Delko zorst might suit the 1100 engine better than it does the 850. I'm convinced the pipe size is too large for the smaller engine, but it does sound great, if loud. Lovely snarl from it at 5.5- 6K.Originally posted by 1978GS750E View Post

Finally have it in 1 piece! Still have some fine tuning and case polishing to do, but it is rideable now.
Love the sound of the Delkevic exhaust! I had almost forgotten how fast these old GS1100's are in a straight line!
Come on warmer weather!
