I’ve been chasing hanging idle and other issues, so I finally broke down and pulled the carbs. First up was a deep clean with guitar string and carb cleaner. I replaced the floats and installled a Dynojet Stage 3 kit to match the pods that came on the bike. I replaced the boots but am having revving issues when it’s on the kickstand, so I’ll be pulling the carbs off to check floats again, this time with the clear tubing method. I’ll probably break down and get a balance gauge while I’m at it.
I just checked the valves and set them to ~.10-.12mm per advice I’ve seen on here. All were practically at zero.
The latest project was a brake upgrade using salty_monk’s Twinpot adapters. I went a bit overboard and bought CBR600F4 rotors, both Kawasaki Z1000 and EX650 calipers, as well as both R1/R6 and Z1400 radial master cylinders. I plan to try both sets of calipers with both master cylinders; I’ve ran both masters with the EX650s thus far. Full write-up incoming, stay tuned.
