    OK
Besides a good sync I'm calling this thing done.
Lowered the needle a half notch this morning. Did a valve clearance (four tight ones), oil and filter change. Tried the Rotella 5/40 full synthetic.
32 degrees full advance(double checked just now).
    150 main jet 1&4
    152.5 main jet 2&3
    Pilot jet 50
    Jet needle 3.5 from bottom
Has gobs of torque. Roll on wheelies! Whoopie!

Sounds good. What cam timing did you settle on?

I tried 5W40 in the 850 a couple of years back. It rattled so much when it was cold, I changed back to 10W40. I'm now sleeping well again.

          Sync'ed the carbs.
Advanced the timing a little. The plugs weren't showing enough color on the tang.
Having a little trouble with the idle under 1.5k. May be the RPM guage though. It showed an idle alot higher than the old one.
May be fat on the pilot jet with the 50.

Gs tachs aren't accurate and tend to read over by at least 50-100 at idle in my experience...

I think I'm done with the jetting
              Mikuni BS36SS carbs
              47.5 pilot jet
Idle mixture screws out 3-3.5 turns
              150 main jet 1&4
              152.5 main jet 2&3
Dynojet Jet needle third notch from bottom
              Pulls great bottom-top
Idles great with the 47.5 pilot jets
I tried this setup with the Jet Needle 3.5 notches from bottom but ran too hot for my liking. The three up gave me better color on the plugs and it ran cooler.
              The plugs look perfect

                        One more jetting change
Rich on the needle a bit so lowered it a half notch to 3.5 from bottom. Better power when hot and will improve my terrible fuel milege.

Put 20/50 oil in and saved the Rotella 5/40 for the winter.

I'm hoping for at least a buck-twenty per tank.
