Awesome and bummer all at the same time

But if you need wheels, you need wheels... it's even better when those wheels have a motor to shuffle them along

Its running, but isnt quite right. I had to push start it again and if i give it a boot full it coughs and splutters so i will have to check for air leaks and maybe adjust the fuel intake

setup some wicked garage lighting yesterday afternoon so i can see what i'm doing now! Also have the left over cable so i could put more lights in if need be.

Might have a play on the bike tonight it has a starting issue, the starter relay buzzes and the starter motor will slowly turn with a whine / squeel so i think either the battery is close to flat or it has another issue. Push starting it is being a bugger, glad its only a 250!

Flat battery would make sense... specially as it used to start just fine and dandy...

Come on hurry up will ya?

                      Well.... its got more issues,

Indicators & horn will only work below 2000rpm and when the horn does work its not very well, previously had no problems with the horn or blinkers.

Battery is charging at 8.5v, before i took the engine out the battery was perfect. All earth wires are connected.

And now the battery isnt even turning the starter or making the starter relay click at all.

My money is on something with the wiring, maybe taking the engine out broke some wires or something as the bike is running with a slight miss in it every few revolutions..... i'm over it.... i am realllllllllllly not wanting to rewire the whole thing!!!

My guess is it is more likely a connector isn't seating correctly or possibly a corroded connector/wire . A pain in the arse to fix, but still not a fractured wire in the loom and easier to fix. You may still need to pull the loom out and go at it with a multimeter though. Id still be passed if i had to do it too.

I thought it may of been the earth to the block, but i've checked that and i've checked wires etc, i thought i may of had the wires mixed up, but i've got each wire connected to its same colour, but i cant be sure if they are right because my wiring diagram doesnt have the connections in it.

I can see whats gonna happen, i'm going to be up to my elbows in wiring spaghetti!

Can someone look at this and tell me what number 8 is please bottom right? On page 10. Its not mentioned in the list. Isnt 8 the ignitor and 7 the generator?

Given that on the other pages (specifically #9) there isn't a number on the equivalent component and that in the part listing #8 is listed as the igniter, it's a pretty safe bet that it'll be the same on your page too.

Ha that's gold right there, classic Haynes dodgy manual-ness...

Yep, that's definitely your ignitor, and 7 is definitely the alternator.
