Guest repliedI've got a few guys helping, we're trying to get it done as fast as possible cause were all gagging to take it for a ride! We definitely go through more beer than oxygen on this build :-)

Guest repliedHow many helpers you got on this build?! You bribing them all with beer or something?
Seriously nice work though, this is looking awesome.

Tonight I got the forks on, the swingarm and rear shock in, so the bike is now sitting on its wheels.
Before I put the forks on Hayden cleaned the lowers up a bit and I covered then with a Matt laminated silver vinyl rather than painting them. Hopefully this is a bit more stone chip resistant than paint.
Chris started on the crap Job of fixing my dented tank........stupid tank! Don't have any photos of that though cause its not very exciting.Last edited by Guest; 03-07-2012, 05:05 AM.

Guest repliedOriginally posted by nvr2old View PostVery cool looking bike. You should be very proud. I wasn't going to say a word..until you dented the tank..my condolences btw....but I was looking at your paint job, which is really killer, and I couldn't help but think to myself..(if ya gotta shoot it again anyway)..what would it look like if the white box on the tank matched the angles of the side covers and the tail section. If you were to tilt the back white line on the tank parallel to the side cover's vertical stripe and then slant the lower white bottom line of the tank parallel to the tail section's bottom line. It would make the whole thing look like it was getting ready to "pounce". Not saying it has to be done, but just something to ponder.
I hear what you're saying, that would look awesome and I will definitely look into it... Only problem I see is that the white panel on the tank follows the shape of the tank, so the bottom line of the white panel would need to change quite dramatically to match the rear panel.
I'll have a bit of a play around with it and keep you posted.

when it had stock suspension and wheels would it bottom out on the tail and tail light with it shortened like that?

Guest repliedComing along nicely. It's gonna look good and run like a scalded bandit.

Guest repliedStarted doing the final assembly of the bike tonight, installed my 5 degree advancer and adjusted the valve clearances before fitting the engine into the frame. Got the rear sets on and the headset bearings in.

Guest repliedGot some black paint on the frame, I'm quite happy with the gloss level.. I thought it was gonna be way more Matt, but turned out a nice semi gloss which is a total fluke but looks spot on!

Guest repliedOriginally posted by Sci85 View PostI noticed you put the rear brake reservoir on what looks like the old top shock mount. Just a suggestion but you might want to think about tucking that in tighter. The hose is kinda exposed so maybe you're going to make a longer one and run it along the frame tubing? Regardless, she's looking really nice.
Finished stripping the old paint off the frame and got some primer on it:
