Finally found some time to get out to the garage and my back was feeling good.
I managed to get about 95% of the tabs and things cut off and smoothed out before my back started to hurt and I figured I better call it a night before it got bad again.
nothing too exciting to see but I took pics anyway.
Tools of destruction.
Cut off disc, grinding disc and flap wheel.

A few pics of the progress.



Lots of metal dust all over the place.

Tomorrows plan is to finish the cut, grind and sand.
Then I will get the frame in primer.

Not a lot done today but I finished removing the stuff I wanted gone from the frame and smoothed it all out.


I was waiting for a call from a local publication that was going to interview me for an article about Geocaching (finding things with a GPS) so I decided to see how the epoxy paint lays down.
I started with a rusty bent up battery holder and with the help of these

and a little of this

I ended up with this




Not too bad for a rattle can job.
I probably wont even be using the battery holder at all on this build unless I modify it to fit somewhere else.
It was more of a test to see how the paint would go on.
I can see why GK ended up with some overspray. This stuff dries really fast so it's hard to chase the wet edge.
If I don't end up using the battery holder I will give it to anyone on this site that needs it for the cost of shipping.

Looks good. I was hoping to get my exhaust finished up on my bike tonight but not quite. Tomorrow night will have picture updates.Comment

Looking good there brslk.....yup that paint dries really fast, and if you spray too much you get runs, don't spray enough or too slow and you get over spray, but it does leave a nice shine when it goes on proper.
I did a few more parts today with the same paint, the handle bars/risers, re did the rear metal portion of the rear fender, and tried to touch up the frame a bit, places where I could still see the red primer.
I have to remove the steering bearings, there is a dead spot, so that is next....

wow! I almost got knocked down to the 3rd page! I better work faster.
I wasn't to happy with the frame in the areas I chopped things off of. They were probably fine and some of them would never be seen once the bike was back together.
But... I'm a nit picker about stuff like this. No one else might no it wasn't a good as it should be but I would know and it would bug me.
A trip to Canadian tire to get this stuff. When I used to do this for a living I got all my supplies from Carlsons auto body supply but they don't cater too much to the Garage workers. That and they aren't open on the weekends.

When I used to work at a fibre-glas shop years ago acetone was $10 a gallon but I paid $9.99 for a litre. (is suppose gas was also a lot cheaper back in the 90's too though...
after a couple of hours.




I am pondering chopping off the center stand mounts as I don't have one and couldn't put one on due the the 4 into 1 exhaust.

I should say 'was' pondering it because the 4 into 1 also make it next to impossible to change the oil filter without removing the manifold.
So I am now pondering changing the 4 into 1 for something else.
A center stand is always helpful also.

Wow you do take it to the next level. really smoothing out the frame. I didn't have THAT much ambition.
