WANTED: info for source of fine-thread bolts

No, Age, I had not seen it, thanks for pointing it out.

I looked at the link, and following all the other stuff that is associated with it, it shows that that item is used three times, which gives me the impression that the 9 Euros is for one item, not a set of three. That would be 27 Euros per bike, which is just about $36. I will be doing this to the four GSes left in the stable, and possibly offering them for sale, so that is WAY too much money.

I have ordered another die (hopefully the correct size this time ), it was cheaper than the last one, less than $12 this time (including shipping). Even including the purchase of a wrong size die, I have spent less than $30 so far, now to find some proper machine screws that I can cut down and re-thread.

it may be worth just giving them a ring to check see if they are 3 or not. seems strange to call 1 screw a "set", especially as the springs are seperate too........

Don't know why, but I ordered an M6 x 0.5. Should have been M5 x 0.5.

That's OK, I think there are other items that are M6, like the mixture screws.

That's why you specifically ordered an M6 die.

I'm confused with all the numbers and such, but I think I might have what you need somewhere in the bowels of the spare parts, either the actual screws/bolts or the die to turn them down. If you still need either, please let me know.

Thanks, S. I have a die coming, and I have a couple bolts here that I am going to try to thread when the die gets here.

If that works, it will merely be a matter of getting the bolts cheaper, but the ones I found are not all that bad.

Not a bad price, but it's the wrong part.

That is the pilot screw, I am looking for the carb sync screw, which might be part #21. However, the sync screw on these carbs is different than those on the XS series, so I can't say for sure. If #21 is the sync screw, it's $13.11 (ncluding the spring), which is a pretty good price, but still can't guarantee that it's the right size for the GS carbs.

If testing this weekend is successful, I might be able to offer up sets for about $10, which will make carb sync MUCH easier.

Finally have all the parts to give it a try.

The dies that came are only about 3/4" in diameter, so I had to find a suitable handle. It came in the mail today,
I will be threading some bolts in the next couple of days to see if all this will work the way I hope it will.

I just looked back through this thread. After several suggestions (which came within 24 hours), I ordered the first (incorrect) die and was given an estimated delivery of June 26 - July 15. This was shown in post #19.

After that die arrived (from China), I ordered one of the correct size (again, from China). After that one arrived, I had to locate a handle, so ordered one from the other corner of oHIo. It arrived two days before the first one was supposed to arrive from China.
