    '78 GS1000 "E" or "G"?

I imagine this question has come up before, but I can't seem to find it in forums. I'm restricted to using my cell phone to run searches, this can be difficult...

How can I determine what model my GS1000 is? The title agency lists it as a "G", I assume by the VIN, can I trust their accuracy? What is the best way to determine this?

    Thank you for any info,

    James

If it is shaft drive, it is a G. If it's not a shaft drive, then it isn't a G model.

IIRC, don't think 1000G models were available before 1980. Could be a C...
Does it have dual or single front brake rotors? (E= dual, C= single)

Dual front brake rotors. I was hoping it was an E. doesn't the E have greater horsepower?

            This is your '78 GS1000C

This is your '78 GS1000E (Seat grab bar like the C, this being a pre-production model)

I thought the C came with spoked alloy wheels?

Life is too short to ride an L.

I like my E... That's a great looking bike. I still got a ways to go, but yeah... Sexy tri-disc ftw.

They did. That brown one in the earlier post is a mutt, single disc(C) with cast wheels(E). ??

78 would be an E? G did not come out until 79

Me bad, I should've noticed it right off, I didn't in my haste to post it.
Here's the '78 GS1000C with the spoked alloy wheels.

Actually, the top end's are virtually identical but the bottom end is totally different. Different crank, clutch, final drive, cases, etc.

I'm glad someone else brought that up. I'd hate to be seen as picking on someone by bringing it up as I had intended on doing earlier.
