Help removing inner from outer fork tubes...
I have a '77 GS750 and am trying to rebuild the forks with new seals. I have the forks off the bike and have taken the springs out, but can't remove the inner tube from the outer tube. I loosened the allen bolt on the bottom, but it doesn't remove, just spins. Do I need the extended nut tool to secure the other end of the allen bolt as described in Mr. Matchless' PDF?

Yes... or you can likely do it by shoving a broom handle down there & applying pressure while you turn the bolt.

If I'm using the spark plug and socket extension method, what do I want on the end? A spark plug socket? Doesn't seem to grab anything...Comment

Thanks GSR! Got it! I couldn't find a broom handle with a small enough diameter, so thought I'd go with the socket extension. In the end I found a dowel that worked! Cheers!Comment
