Dan, a 110/90 in the avon am26 roadrider is the equivalent width basically of a 120/90 shinko, what do you have to say about that?

If you say so... I bet the radius around the circumference is different though and the steering characteristics are more governed by that than overall width I would think.

What I have found also is that the width measurements quoted are not always very accurate.

I think you would need to make the frame and steering geometry similar to a modern sport bike to get decent handling from such large tires on a GS. The frame is not anywhere near rigid enough to run that kind of geometry. Without the geometry changes. it will handle like a large truck.

I'm no expert on this frame stuff but I think that is more or less correct.

In the 80's, the rims on the more serious GS's got wider, as did the tires. I think 120?

I'll probably stick with a 110 front, but the shinko 120 being only 0.09" wider than an avon 110 has me wondering... the tread profile radius as salty mentioned may be the important detail to consider.
