swingarm bearings
Anyone know where to get aftermarket swingarm bearings? OEM looks pretty pricey. I think I need 17mm x 40mm x 15.25mm.

Pull one of the bearings, read the numbers/letters on it and call Motion Industries, KAMAN Industries, NAPA, O'Reilly's, Amazon.Com, etc. and get a pair of replacements for MUCH less.

Looks like a 09265-17012. Probably a KOYO 30203JR. Should be able to find that at a auto parts or bearing shop.

That's the one. I'm going to check O'Reilley's and see if they have a slide hammer that will work to pull the outer race. O'Reilly's can only get the ones without the rubber seal, but I did find the ones with th seal on Amazon. 15.50 each plus 9.95 shipping. For 41.00 shipped I get the pair. Not too bad. The O'Reilley's slide hammer did the trick on getting the races out. Just curious -- why are you replacing them?
These tapered bearings are mega-overkill in this application (shaftie swingarms), and will pretty much last forever.

I've never had to replace a set of them yet and both of them are OEM. I've rarely had to adjust them, even.
Having said that, next time I check them I might find the oldest ones are worn past adjustment, but they've have 250K to get there, and I might get the chance to fit the spare set I bought 20 years ago in the expectation that I'd need them at some point.Dave

I've never owned a G, but I've owned a few Yamaha XJ shafties over the years and the swingarm bearings wear out quite readily over time. The bearings are quite small compared to the roller bearings of a chain drive swingarm.Current:
Z1300A5 Locomotive (swapped my Intruder for it), GS450 Cafe Project (might never finish it....), XT500 Commuter (I know - it's a Yamaha :eek:)
Past:
VL1500 Intruder (swapped for Z1300), ZX9R Streetfighter (lets face it - too fast....), 1984 GSX750EF, 1984 GSX1100EF (AKA GS1150)
And a bunch of other crap Yamahas....Comment

I pulled everything apart to get the frame and swingarm powdercoated. The bike sat for about 14 years. Upon inspection, I found the races were a little notched.
