I got a set of those funky Chinese wavy discs for my old ZX9R fighter a few years back - no problems except the black anodized carriers faded to brown in the sun (actually just one one side because I rode it to work and parked with one side facing the sun each day).

The Chinese are pretty good at copying simple stuff in alloy / stainless - like disc rotors, billet levers, bar ends, etc.
      Current:
Z1300A5 Locomotive (swapped my Intruder for it), GS450 Cafe Project (might never finish it....), XT500 Commuter (I know - it's a Yamaha )

      Past:
      VL1500 Intruder (swapped for Z1300), ZX9R Streetfighter (lets face it - too fast....), 1984 GSX750EF, 1984 GSX1100EF (AKA GS1150)
And a bunch of other crap Yamahas....

I've been using an Arashi rotor on the rear of my 1100 for about 5 years. Still works and looks great.

Lots of folks over on the V-Strom forums are using fleaBay Chinesium rotors with no problems.

That said, is anyone actually making rotors for vintage GS bikes?

Original GS rotors are pretty heavy duty stuff compared to anything on a modern bike, so they last a good long while unless they get damaged.

I bought these off fleabay for the salty_monk conversion on my 1100E: http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/k...pst9awsacn.jpg

They have been working fine for nearly 5000km now. As a bonus they are vastly lighter than the OEM rotors, I lost several pounds of unsprung weight with the whole conversion.

Limeex2, can you comment 2 years later how these Arashi rotors are holding up on your GS?

I'm contemplating $150 for a used set of CBR900RR OEM 296mm rotors, vs brand new $176/pair "Arashi" Brand DBS007MB Chinese aftermarket in fancy packaging and cloned Arai helmets logo...
vs wife urging me to ONLY go with new name brand EBC rotors at $186/each x2 = $372/pair!!!!!!!!!! That's her motorcycle shop employee purchase cost+10%+tax price... same as cheapest shipped on eBay...

EDIT - I notice that surprisingly, Arashi even make aftermarket wheels!!! Wow...

Have them on my GS1000 for 5 years now, never had an issue, no real signs of wear or warping. ( i must add this is not a daily rider so have not done massive milage on them, maybe about 5000 miles)

Bike:2007 CBR 600rr I have been in the need to replace my OEM rotors for some time now and I have always liked The look of wave rotors but never loved the price. As most of you know there has been a lot of people questioning the EBAY wave rotors. I have looked and did tons of forum readings and...

"I have the Arashi rotors on a 2003 CBR600RR for about 18 months now with close to 20k miles and have not had any problems whatsoever. I ride track as well... they are the generic Chinese brand and have held up well."

I just ordered a set. Crossing my fingers that they arrive sooner than the 7-14 days from now quoted! West Virginia mountain roads are calling...

Sorry for the late reply. Have about 3k on the wave rotors. Now that there well bedded in they work even better. The quality is there. They make most of the OEM wheels too. I would use the money saved to buy a NEW OEM master cyl. ZRX forum guys use EX500 1/2 bore versions over the 5/8.
