    Suggestions for new fork seals

    Doesn't seem too complicated but the ones I just installed, which sat here for three years because I didn't need them, leaked immediately after install. Suggestions for brand/source for replacements? GS1100ES

              Make sure there are no sharp edges that may cut the seal during installation and use a bit of grease or oil on the seal lips so they don't dry tear before things get working.

                      OEM Suzuki fork seals last the longest.
                      1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.
                      2005 KLR685, Aztec Pink - Turd II.3, the ReReReTurdening
                      2015 Yamaha FJ-09, Magma Red Power Corrupts...

                          I can't swear that the tubes are perfect but they look it and the original seals were not leaking. I wish I'd left them alone. I had done my other bike a couple years ago and didn't think it was difficult so...

                              Ask the wife/girlfriend/daughter/neighbor lady for a old pair of pantyhose. Wipe the fork tubes down with them and if there is a snag the material will find it.

                                  That's a great idea but with a wife and six daughters is still haven't seen pantyhose in years. (I'll find some)

                                      Just go into your bathroom, grab a few pieces of toilet tissue off the roll. They will work just about as well as pantyhose.

                                              +1 on not installing them upside down. When I did mine a couple of years ago exactly half of the fork seals were installed upside down. I found no mention of direction in the factory or Clymer manuals at the time.

                                                      So embarrassing. I did have them in upside down. I don't know how I could have done that. I know how they go in. Ugh.

                                                      All together again. Emulator springs at 1.5 turns. Ride tomorrow.
