A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Pic of the week game

Hard to believe, but Sportsters used to win everything! The very first issue of Cycle World, stated that, "If you're riding a Sportster you're either going to or coming from a race." :uncomfortableness:

To watch, maybe. Lol...they were never faster than the fastest Japanese bikes....not even close. You are kidding, right? :)

He's talking back before we got fast Japanese bikes. Late 50s to early 60s.

Well then it would have been Vincents in the 50s

But I said early '60s....:p

Find the fastest before the mid '60s...

I do believe Rob is correct.
When the Sportster came out '57, it was designed to compete with the British bikes of the time.
It was a popular race bike into the mid '60s.

The Japanese weren't in the picture yet. We had still to met the nicest people.;)

I believe that up until the late 60s, Sportsters were among the quickest production bikes, running the quarter mile in a dead heat with the CB750 and yes, even the Kawasaki Mach III (low to mid 13s IIRC). But that was no bragging feat, as it had a nearly 400 cc advantage. I'll check my facts and get back with the correct opinion. :watermelon:

Kaw 500 Mach III 13.2 (April '69 Cycle World)

Sportster 13.8 (April '68 Cycle World)

Norton Commando 13.4 (Sept '68 Cycle World)

Triumph Trident 13.8 (Oct '68 Cycle World)

Honda CB750 13.38 (August '69 Cycle World)

I can certainly see how a Sportster would win a one-make race.
Like funny how it's always a Bagger wins a Bagger race. Something smells, there. Probably the burst open milk canister from the last camping trip.

the theme this week from Trevor, Saying Good-bye.

Another great week... All Good... Voting for marvinsc this week, the ultimate in saying good-bye

Thanks for doing the update, Rich.
Wife and left the house early for an overnight trip.

Voting Roger's fun take! Burgue73

We’re out of town for the night too. She got mad at me when I was posting the recap we were waiting for our tour to start at a museum and I was ignoring her.

vote for dpep.

Good pics this week. I like Baatfam's as it seems like the logical entry. I have one like that of my Grandpa's 1969 Glastron Tri-hull boat as it was rolling out of my driveway and the last time I saw it.

But I'll vote for Burque73 and his clever take on the theme.
