• This forum allows conversation on non-controversial topics, therefore no politics or religion. "The Campfire" is an area meant for casual, civil discussions. Deliberate anti-social activity including personal insults, profanity, pornography, racism, threats and purposely inflammatory posts may result in suspension of forum access or possibly a permanent ban from GSR.

The words insight and incite are pronounced the same. But one of them will get you banned and the other will not. Before hitting the Submit button be certain which of the two better describes your post.

    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Pic of the week game

Good Morning, GSR!
Voting was a little rough this week, but we keep the polls open an extra day.
Here are the results:

With one vote each, Trevor, Rob S, gustovh, and Carter Turk

And with four votes for the win, Grimly and his sleeping motorbike!

What's up next, Grimly

We're a coupla days late this week on getting a new theme up because of the site being down all day last Friday. Paging Dave Grimly. Hopefully he sees this and gets something up soon.

Ok, thanks for the unexpected win!

This week's subject is... Your favourite modification...

Grabbed this one on my weekend ride, showcasing my passive reserve tank.
I would need to look for fuel around 150-180 miles and now it's more like 250-320 miles. I'm stopping becasue I want to, not becasue I need to.
It's still not the final product, working out some little kinks but it has dynamically changed my ride and saves allot of time.

Best,

It’s my understanding that the photos used are to be already taken prior to the challenge, otherwise it is the riding game.

That's one way to do it. Many of us like to go for a ride with the theme in mind in case we come across something that fits. Or, often, I'll set something up to fit the theme. Helps keep the pics we post fresh and not recycling the same pics we've used in previous themes. Though we have to do that sometimes, too.

There's often been discussion in this thread about "this shouldn't be a tag/riding game". I don't really care what you call it. I participate to share what I hope others see as a good representation of the theme/and/or/ an image worthy of others' appreciation, regardless of when or under what conditions it was produced.

From page number one:

Bold added by me..

Rules:
  1. Today is Saturday, I'll start with a theme.
  2. Saturday to Thursday is submissions time. Everyone else can post one (and only one) picture that meets the theme.
  3. Friday is voting day. Vote for the picture you like the most. You can vote even if you didn't participate with a pic during the week. (voting closes at midnight, Pacific time zone).
  4. In case of a tie during the voting day, the first vote that breaks the tie the day after will decide the winner, unless of course one party wishes to concede to the other.
  5. Saturday, the winner of the week posts a new theme using an example picture.
  6. The example picture ALSO participates.
  7. Any bike can participate... not only GS's (as long as it was yours when the pic was taken)
  8. The date of the picture does not matter, or who took the pic. You can use new or old pics as long as you've got the bike in the pic (or as much of the bike as necessary for the theme) and they meet the week's theme.

Everything is cool...The "Riding Game" was over eight years ago.

P.S. I like it when folks go out and take new photos for the game...It's not easy, and I appreciate it...
