DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Do you still own a GS?

I bought my GS850G new in 1981 and added a fairing that was moulded by a fibreglass fabricator according to a Honda design. I have always done all wrenching myself. A few years ago I bought my oldest brother's 1981 GS1000G that he had added touring items such as Vetter fairing, king/queen seat...

    Fuel Gauge questions

The "Voltage Regulator" of the Fuel Gauge is just a small bi-metal wire-wound resistor that is actually part of the Fuel Gauge itself, as shown in one of your earlier posts.

    Shout out to Brian (BWRINGER)

Hi Brian, Christmas arrived for a second time for me today because the parcel arrived safely at my local post office today! After arriving at the airport in Johannesburg, South Africa on 20 November 2025 from USA via Switzerland in 5 days, it took our local postal services 2 months to transport...

    Fuel Gauge questions

I am not sure if the fuel gauge operates the same on all the different models, but my GS850G manual states that the function of the "regulator" for the fuel gauge is to compensate for variations in temperature and voltage, and that the Average Output Voltage = 7V. Your reading of 6.82V across...

    Shout out to Brian (BWRINGER)

I recently purchased all the front and rear brake master cylinder piston kits and caliper seals from my local dealer in Cape Town, South Africa for my 1980 GS850G / GS1000G. However, I also needed the front master cylinder rubber diaphragm just under the lid, but it was NLA even from Suzuki...

    Battery ground

The battery in the photo is a MOTOBATT. It has 2 positive terminals and 2 negative terminals on each side, unlike other batteries that only have 1 of each. So the terminal on the right hand side in his photo that does not have a wire connected, is actually a "spare" positive terminal...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

I have not been out for a good ride for a while, so on a nice 23?C Spring day afternoon I went along the coast. This is the local beach about 1 km from our house with some people enjoying the sun: This is a view of part of Walker Bay at Hermanus (about 10 km from our house), which is a...

    Front Suspension

The correct pressure is 8.5 psi to 17 psi. Use a hand pump to pump air in, and not a compressor, because not a lot of air is needed and the high pressure from a compressor will blow the fork seals.

GS 1000 G filter box, this absurd creature.

Looking at the parts diagrams on www.alpha-sports.com and www.partzilla.com it is indeed true that GS1000G and GS1000GL have different rubber connections ("Hoses") between airbox and carbs. I did not know that. Hope you get it sorted out!

GS 1000 G filter box, this absurd creature.

Hey Alex, looking at the photo of your airbox in post 15, I think this is the dot mark for the outer cylinder. The other outer cylinder would also be more towards the inside and not at the bottom 6 o' clock position. The 2 inside cylinders are at the 6 o' clock position. Maybe this will solve...

GS 1000 G filter box, this absurd creature.

As has been said by dgates1, there is a raised dot/bump below each hole in the airbox (at 6 o'clock position) exactly the same as the dot on the rubber. The dot on the rubber must also be at the bottom (6 o'clock position).

GS 1000 G filter box, this absurd creature.

The markings look like this: and this: As you sit on the bike, LH side is on your left (so the view looking forward from the airbox into the carb intake), and RH side is on your right.

    Fork oil leak

If your forks have the air valves on top for air pressure to assist damping, the air pressure is forcing the oil past the seal even when the bike is standing still. Be careful not to have too much air pressure in the forks - pressure should only be 8 to 17 psi.

    Jennifer's Makeover

Welcome to GSR Flightstick. Great news that Jennifer has resurfaced, but it will be a shame if she has to be parted out. What exactly are the issues with the paperwork? Please let me know. I know someone in the SAPS vehicle clearance dept. who may be able to advise on the way forward.

82 GS1100e rear left turn signal issue

The ground wire for the turn signal is usually under the nut holding the turn signal through the frame or mounting bracket.
