    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Local Artist Playing In Kits

Haven't seen Harry play in a few years now . But he is my favorite local artist. He plays an instrument called a Mohan Veena, a slide guitar sitar cross ..... I once went to the shop in Kolkata where it was made . About 30 years ago . The instrument wasn't expensive { about $300 } but...

THIS is a big step forward

I'm 73 .... While in the liquor store recently I noticed the girl in front of me being " carded " .... Being a smart a$$ I asked the salesperson why she didn't ask for my I.D. ? ... Her reply was ... " I'm sorry sir, but we don't have any senior's sales this week " ,,,, Best comeback I've heard...

THIS is a big step forward

Not that I've got anything against the idea .... But how the Hell is that going to work ? Are smokers going to have to provide I.D to prove they were born before January 1 2009 every time they buy a pack of smokes ? ...... Sounds like a logistical nightmare ......

    Landmark moment in music!

I think you are spot on with your Asian analogy ..... There is an instrument played by one of our local musicians called the " Mohan Veena " a slide guitar/sitar hybrid that I think may be a good example of crossing the bridge .... It gained some note through " Vishwa Mohan Bhatt " the...

    Landmark moment in music!

In recognition of Lab3's " I said it first " comment..... I realize commenting on the micro-tonal aspect once he has done so is evidently " verboten " .... I really must brush up on my discussion protocols ..... I really had no idea there was a "once said can't discuss " rule out there ...

    Africa

Sounds trustworthy to me .... Now if the name was Boris, Natasha, or Snidely Whiplash I might have some doubts, but Femi sounds like a straight shooting guy ......

    Landmark moment in music!

One thing I did find interesting .... Play the video again and then pause it as soon as you see a close up of the guitar fret board ..... It isn't a normal guitar fret arrangement . It's micro-tonal .... A normal guitar fret board is divided up into semitones . This one is divided up into...

    R.I.P. Dash Crofts

I'm still trying to assess the " streaming " experience ..... I too have a preference for vinyl. To the extant I have spent a lot of money on it { I'm one of those nuts that spends thousands on speaker wire } .... With vinyl the purchase of an ultrasonic cleaner { Humminguru Nova } .... And...

    Landmark moment in music!

I wasn't impressed either . Mind you my tastes run to classical, flamenco, and jazz. ....And I found the visual to be downright stupid . I kept trying to imagine when I saw Segovia or Montoya play if I could have enjoyed their shows had either walked on stage dressed like a cow ..... I don't...

He played a lot in Vancouver . Including at the first " Easter Be In " in 1967 . I saw him a few times at the S.F.U. Pub .... I never did know why he had such a strong connection with Vancouver . I would be curious to know .... Rest in peace Joe ..... " Come out :Lyndon with your hands held...
