    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    How our world is changing

Company is a word that merits serious scrutiny. The default dystopia is Orwellian. Huxley may already be here.

Might this all be a terrible misunderstanding and what we are seeing is just some international creative writing assignments these kids are involved in? Remember Douglas Adam's horribly beweaponed battle fleet swallowed by a small dog due to an accident of scale?

That's Royalty for you . The concept of either having to or wanting to get rich is entirely alien to them.

Could I ask why you are considering doing that?

Great to see the tradition being carried forward. Must have been Eric's grandfather writing to me in the early 80s. None of this ATM sophistication back then. It was all about cash in boxes under the rebel leader's bed and driving trucks around the desert in the middle of the night and buying a...

    IQ test pop-ups

That took me a while...... but I got there eventually :) Come to think of it, aren't higher order time derivatives on the Rice Krispies box?

    RIP Rob and Michelle Reiner

A family tragedy, probably one of many that day, the other families we didn't hear about. Life is the great leveler and all families are as one in these terrible moments. His film output is truly amazing both for depth and range. He got Cruise and Nicholson, in that court martial scene, to...

Is there such a thing as a cheap Beemer?

I had an 83 R100RT and now a 97 R1100R. Cheap means being able to do the work yourself as we all know. The fuel injected R1100R is a bit of a challenge as there is only one TP sensor and getting balance right is tricky.... almost impossible ... but essential for big jugs... thank you carbtune :)...

Whose driven on the left side of road? Any timely tips?

Where I get caught out is entering empty roads from filling stations and the like. Autopilot takes over. I recall tourists taping a sheet of paper with an arrow to the left on the steering wheel of their rentals.

    Condensation in the Oil

Now that's old school :) Drove an old Volvo once that had a sliding metal plate in front of the rad that you raised and lowered with a chain fed through to the dash, right beside the temperature gauge.

    Windshield/flyscreen recommendation?

Small is good. There is a space between bikini and nose high that the biggest effect is deafening turbulence at the helmet. I took a cafe style off the 850 and didn't miss it one bit. I had an R100RT and it was great even if the fairing not following the bars is weird. I have an in-betweener...

    Condensation in the Oil

Some of the ZX bikes use the thermostat housing as a ground for the temperature sensor. Cases of peculiar temp gauge behaviour have been 'fixed' by running a ground wire from the housing. Might be worth trying this and a general inspection of the sensor wiring just to eliminate it. This applies...

    Condensation in the Oil

If a gauge is at operating temperature in slow traffic and drops at speed you have a strong pointer to a thermostat sticking open. The stat should nail the needle to the operating temperature give or take a needle width.
