A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Speedometer Calibration?

Hey guys! I removed the instrument cluster on my '82 1100E to install what I thought was a burned-out bulb behind the speedometer face. Turns out, after I got to looking at it, it had a 140-mph face glued over a factory 85-mph face, so the light wasn't illuminating through. It was kind of...

    1980 or 1982 GS1100E--Which Would You Choose?

The warning lights came back on and worked perfect--twice. Now all the dash lights are off.

Again, problems with the warning lights. The last time I ran the bike yesterday, the same lights started to flicker on and off, finally going off never to reilluminate. Turned the key on several times and restarted several times, but no more warning lights. Bad ground or bad connection...

Right on! Thanks guys. :) Rob S. It rarely gets past the 70s temperature wise where I'm at and most of the year is 40s-60s. But I'll keep it in mind. For those not in the US, degrees, not Celsius. :) Thanks.

There was nothing wrong with the sender. So, decided to remove the oil filter plate...it was dry inside! Pulled the filter, everything looked fine. Left the plate off and turned it over to check for flow, and a plug shot out of the feed passage. Man, I hope I didn't hurt this thing running it...

I wondered if that might be the case. The engine is full of new oil, and new filter. I watch the site glass when started and the oil disappears, so I'm making the assumption the oil pump is circulating the oil. The engine is mechanically quiet, no abnormal clattery noises or anything like that...

Well, got the carbs back on the bike and it now runs! The engine sounds really good. I do still have to sync. the carbs. as the idle is a bit rough and uneven. I do have a question. The oil light, taillight, head light, brake light and side stand warning lights all stay illuminated. If I...

If I can somehow get a title for the '81, I would like to get it on the road as well. I really like the looks of that bike.

Actually, I may still be interested because my other '82 "parts bike" doesn't have one either. I will PM you. Thanks!

Starting reassembly of the carbs. Number 1 done, number 2 waiting for assembly. I bought a cheap set of ebay kits thinking they had the fuel tube O-rings, unfortunately that wasn't the case. I'll have to source the O-rings elsewhere. I've bought similar kits before and don't use the included...

By the way, guys, I need a rear tank mount bracket, the one that bolts to the frame. If any of you have one laying around you would care to get rid of or know where one is, please contact me. Thanks!

Okay, went smaller even with the resize and it worked. Hopefully it will continue to do so. Forgive the clutter. Lots going on right now. :)

Stop yelling at me, Ron. lol. I am going to separate the carbs. and clean them good and proper. This is just the preliminary cleaning to get the outside grunge off while I wait on the kits to arrive.
