    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    GS1100GK Bogging Down Problems...

The first thing I would do, is try running it with the petcock in the "Prime" position. If there is an improvement, it could indicate a petcock/vacuum issue. Edit: As a reminder, do not leave the petcock in "prime"; you run the risk of filling the crankcase with fuel if the float valves leak.

Header holes/ what can be done?

To temporarily repair an exhaust leak on a diesel tractor, I used a piece of heavy-duty aluminum foil, folded several times to form a square, then held in place with a stainless pipe clamp. Worked great and is still in place some years later.

    Clutch issues

Yep, keep rolling if you can. I was about 10 miles from home when my cable broke. Had to blow through a couple of stop signs and made a right, then quick u-turn, to get around a red light. This was the first time I had to power shift the 1100 and it shifted quite well with just throttle...

    Clutch issues

A few months ago, I suddenly started having a problem finding neutral and noticed the bike would jump a little when putting it in first gear. I adjusted the clutch cable and problem solved..until the cable broke. I believe the reason the cable suddenly stretched was that some of the strands at...

Just about said something to "Got Harley" guy.

Stopped to fuel up yesterday. A Harley guy walks over wearing an Outlaws t-shirt and claimed to be a member. He was both curious and complementary about the 1100. We walked over to his bike briefly, then he said let's go back to yours, I've seen mine enough times. A pleasant 15 minute chat.

    oil ?

Many here use a diesel engine rated oil, like Rotella 15-40. There are numerous threads on motor oil, if you wish to do a search. From the GSR Greeting page: A Few Words About Oil I'll tell you what I use and why. I use Rotella-T Heavy Duty 15w40 oil. It is actually diesel engine oil and...
