A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Compare '81 GS550 to '83 GS650

I owned a 1981 GS550T and still own a 1983 GS650G (not a GL). Definitely prefer the 650G. For the type of riding I used to do, I much preferred the smoother operation of the 650 and the larger tank. The L really needs different bars. Jim

    Gs650 fuel indicator

I gave up on mine. The sender was making intermittent contact so the gauge was bouncing all over the place. I left the sender in the tank and disconnected the wires. Jim

    A 650 vs a 850

And a bunch of classic Katanas. Jim

My neighbor has a couple of XN85s. Interesting beasts. Jim

    Ultrasonic cleaner size

I was looking at the 6L cleaners on Amazon. They all look like they they were made in the same factory and had different labels applied. Jim

    Looking for a smaller battery!

Here's another Motobatt question for the gurus. My GS650G uses a Yuasa YB14L-A2. The Motobatt equivalent is the MBTX14AU. Can I charge the Motobatt with a Yuasa SmartShot 900 Battery Charger/Maintainer? It's a 900 mA wall wart charger. It supposedly switches from charge to float at 14.4 V whereas...

Looking for advice on small fairing or windshield for 82 GS1100E

That Street Shield EX would look good on my GS650. I also looked at the small Slipstreamers but I like the mounts on the Street Shield EX. Jim

    Ultrasonic cleaner size

I think the 6l has three peizo vibrating thingies and the 3L has two, I think I will go for the 6L. It will keep me busy over the winter. Not much else to do with all the Covid lockdowns. Jim

    Ultrasonic cleaner size

6L isn't a lot more expensive. There is a CO-Z 6L on Amazon for just over $200 Canadian. $155 US. Jim

    Ultrasonic cleaner size

Is a 3L ultrasonic cleaner large enough to clean a single carb body? BS32 carbs on a GS650G. I might also use it to clean the front master cylinder and calipers. Thanks. Jim

    I bought another Suzuki

    Very nice.

    GS650G & Me

For what it's worth, my 1983 GS650G seat is just under 69 cm from front to back. The cover is original, slightly torn and a bit stretched. I bought a Saddleman cover ages ago that measures 67 cm from front to back. Nice bike. Jim

    Parts availability in Canada

The closest dealer won't do telephone orders for parts and there are comments on the local forums about their general lack of interest in parts sales. UPS brokerage fees are a scam. I only use them for US shipments when the vendor has an all-in prepaid shipping price including taxes and duties...

GS650G ... where to look for a solution: lose power/fuel on highway

I was going to say air filter because mine disintegrated after a few years of no use, but you covered that already. Were your carbs cleaned by dipping or with an ultrasonic cleaner? Mine were dipped a couple of years ago and I wasn't happy with the performance when I roll on the throttle. The...

    Parts availability in Canada

Thanks for the tip. I will check them out. I completely forgot about Ted (Classic Katana Owners). He lives in my neighborhood. With the number of Kats he owns times four carbs per Kat, he must have a recommendation. He used nastyjones before but he mentioned finding someone else a while ago. Jim
