A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. GS aftermarket parts that actually worked post here

I tried ordering. Thanks for the part research Nessism they are all out of stock worldwide. There are just no name brand pods out there anymore that fit. The type I posted initially will probably work if I re-jet to a smaller jet size. (The pods that fit give less air) There are Chicom pods for...

    1980 GS550e Air pod question.

Yes well the ones I thought were working and do fit are actually not giving enough air. It is what it is and no cheap cuts. Thank you Nessism I ordered them.

    Something for the noobie manual?

Do not forget electrical problems often can be multiple issues at once. My bike's electrical system just went dark a week ago. It turned out to be the ignition switch and the clutch switch at the same time. To make it really fun I just replaced the starter relay and wouldn't you know it the...

    First Bike - GS650G - Rusty Crusty

Just apply for an abandoned title. The DMV wont tell you to do this because you kind of have to lie and maybe sign an affidavit. (LOL?) I in VA and maybe that only works here? It is pretty quick too. Tell them it has been abandoned on your property for over a year and you want an abandoned title.

1980 gs550e power to ignition switch but no lights on instruments or lights.

Bike was working fine. I replaced stock rear indicator lights. Had a brief no power to light issue but it went away. I moved run and horn switch closer to grips. Now when I turn key I get no power to start relay when pressing start button, no instrument lights or any lights. Bike will start by...

GS aftermarket parts that actually worked post here

As several old hands on this forum have stated OEM parts are your best choice. Sometimes the parts aren't available and you can't rebuild the part. Some of us do not have a large disposable income or a not so forgiving wife. In my case all the above applies plus I am thick in the head and have...

    1980 GS550e Air pod question.

Apparently whoever owned it before me rejected it seemingly correctly already. Non OEM stuff though. The new spark plugs are burning in the right color and it runs well for the few quarter mile tests I have run so far. (Other than the CHICOM filters cracking and leaking) Hard to tell what they...

    1980 GS550e Air pod question.

I have air pods but they are chicom and I think they leak. What is the best Air pod filter and size for the CV slide carbs on a 1980 GS550e? (That will actually fit?) Also if I adjust the valves will I have to replace the gaskets? Any leads on a good inexpensive sources? (I know right lol)

    GS550e Middle kick stand help.

I did notice after the first spring was installed using about 20 washers that it would have been a LOT easier (Less tension) if the stand was in the back position instead of in use to add less coins. I will reply when a new spring arrives and also after my week vacation coming up.

1979 GS550e is now running but idles at 2500k What now?

Correction, it runs at 4K unchoked. 5-6k Choked. Changing the Air/Fuel pilot screws does not change anything. The new plugs all seem to be slightly black "charred" the same. (I do not run it over 30 secs each time) Could it be the pilot jet (Small internal carb jet with holes on side and tip)...

    GS550e Middle kick stand help.

I bought a bike that has the middle kick stand in the box and a spring. Its nice for maintenance so I attached it. I placed washers in the spring to stretch it out enough to attach it. Now the spring is stretched too long and kickstand hangs like a carrier jet arresting hook. (Wont that be a...
