A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1980 GS550e Air pod question.

Markofalltrades

Forum Apprentice
I have air pods but they are chicom and I think they leak. What is the best Air pod filter and size for the CV slide carbs on a 1980 GS550e? (That will actually fit?) Also if I adjust the valves will I have to replace the gaskets? Any leads on a good inexpensive sources? (I know right lol)

Stick with K&N or APE. (APE was half the price of K&N, just as good looking and performing.)

Hopefully you’ve rejetted the carbs to suit too…

I don't know what the model number is, but these are real dual throat K&N's.

Regarding jetting, either get air correction jets from Zed, or buy a Dynojet kit for the 1983 GS550M Katana.

Apparently whoever owned it before me rejected it seemingly correctly already. Non OEM stuff though. The new spark plugs are burning in the right color and it runs well for the few quarter mile tests I have run so far. (Other than the CHICOM filters cracking and leaking) Hard to tell what they jetted it with as the number system is screwy...says 47.5 I went ahead and purchased OEM 42.5 jets in case I need them. (Zed never replied) If I have issues I will reach out to Dyno jet.

I will order those exact filters Nessism. (If I can find them.)
You were right in earlier posts. Those knock off filters are garbage.

I did the research for you and found RC-2382 is the proper K&N part number for the dual pods. They are not cheap, but better to do the job right, compared to junk china pods.

Yes well the ones I thought were working and do fit are actually not giving enough air. It is what it is and no cheap cuts. Thank you Nessism I ordered them.
