All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    GS Cargo Carriers

I think the V-Strom looks bad ass with the "extended" exhaust. Two thumbs up, ;)

    GS Cargo Carriers

So what is the largest item you have put on your bike? I hauled a roofing shingle shovel 120 miles round trip. We have also trailered a trailer. Just how we "roll" here in the Hoosier state. ;)

    GS1000 Carbs

Thanks Ed, think I need to go richer or leaner? I am at 1 3/4 turns out which is where it was 4 years ago. :o

    GS1000 Carbs

I have CV carbs with a V & H street megaphone and stock airbox. I just got it running again after sitting for almost 4 years. I went though the carbs, kept the airscrews at 1 3/4" out with new O-rings as they were previously set at. The pilot has been bumped to 42.5, original plastic needle...

    Long Trip Plans

Have you been through the wiring yet? By that I mean taking every connector apart (including the headlight bucket), cleaning with electrical contact cleaner, re-assembling with di-electric grease, and using heat shrink tubing everywhere you can. IMHO more stators and r/r's fail because of...

    Modifying the "L" seat

Wingsconsin has the right idea to build up the front. I used the same cover and kept the step on my seat but carved out the foam and put in Sargent Supercell foam. They have several different types of foam based on how firm you want the seat. The OEM foam gets too soft IMHO especially if the...

    It's back! 2002 KLR650

Scott, good to hear the "patient" is back on the road. ;) It should be all broken in for the "top secret mission" later this fall. Just sayin'

    Brown County Indiana roads

Scott, there might be something in the works. Stay tuned..............:highly_amused: Brian has been doing the GPS tracks on our rides and also getting some tracks from the ADV site. On last Saturdays run the White river flooding completely made "Bump Ass Pass" impassable and my best...

    To KLR or not?

Scott, I missed checking in on this thread but heard at Joe's X-mas party last night (thanks Krusty) :D that you had gotten a dual sport. Very, very nice. Brian mentioned most of the upgrades and I would also add heated grips and these gauntlets. They have great coverage and I added some...

    The "Adventure" Begins...............

Keith, the seat is pretty tall for me and I have the lowered Sargent seat like Dan, 1" rear lowering link, and pushed the tubes up 1" in the triples. With a 30" inseam I am still pretty tippy-toed on it and have dropped the bike probably 5 - 6 times since I have had it when I tried put my foot...

    83 GS850G Gasket

Here is another option for the two valve motor. They don't work very well on the four valve. If you grease the OEM gasket you should be able to use it for a few valve checks. The 83 should have the 19 bolt hole one but you might want to count them if you order one...

    The "Adventure" Begins...............

Keith, when Joe, Greg, and I rented bikes in Reno and attended the Western Rally approx 4 years ago is when I realized I have not been out west at all and have been "dreaming" ;) about this trip since then. I am 53, not married, with two college graduates that have not needed any additional...

    The "Adventure" Begins...............

Last of the pictures are on the first post. As I now look back on the trip it was more than I expected. The West was very beautiful and the riding was excellent. The weather cooperated and I think there were only five days of rain for the 62 days I was on the road and no all day washouts. I...
