So close to getting the 1000 S running after restoration and looking for experts on the S. Hooking a new Motion Pro 04-0113 choke cable up. Everything on the steering stem fit perfect. When I go to attach the end that goes on the carb it seems the barrel on the end of the cable is too large. The old cable ( damaged ) went through a small adjuster and then the barrel on the end of the cable slides up in a bell crank type holder . I don't have the barrel or nipple from the old cable it was broke or cut. The barrel on the end of the motion pro cable is too big to go through the adjuster or up in the bell crank . Stock carbs for the 79. Is there a difference between the 79 and 80 ? Has anyone ran into this before

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Motion Pro said it doesn't fit. I need a cable with a nipple not a barrel. Motion Pro no longer makes one off cables , minimum 20 for a production run. Anyone know of a business that can cut the barrel off this cable and put a nipple on ?

If the barrel is too large, can it be modified with a Dremel to fit?
I'm about to have to order the adjuster thing for my '79's choke, actually. Going to rummage through my boxes of stuff for a few minutes to check my sanity, but already have the threaded adapter in my ebay cart.
How hard would it be to crimp/solder something on the end of the cable? I could measure the diameter of mine if that would help. It certainly isn't as common as the rest of the control cables.

Unfortunately I think what he's describing is that the choke cable end is more of a ferrule crimped onto the end, rather than the "normal" end that's like a barrel with the cable coming out the side of the barrel.

Thanks Nessism. That is exactly the cable I'm looking for. Not sure why I was never able to get that one to come up the 6 or 7 different times I was searching. I just contributed again to help support this site. I don't post a lot on here but I do use the site a lot. Hope to submit this one for BOTM when its finished . Really happy with the way it came out.
And yes Motion Pro calls this cable end a nipple not a barrel. Nipple is what I used to find on Carb cables that went down inside a carb on a dirt bike. Barrel is what is found on the ends of most clutch or brake cables.
