If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Hello
I have been into these bikes since the late 70's I have a 77/78/79 GS550 all collector plated. I also have a 1981 GS850G which is also collector plated I like to do a lot of little rides Cascades or Duffy Lake or Harrison I like the Okanagan as far as I am concerned we have the best riding in the world. I also have a 77 GS550 in Moncton N.B. for when I am back in the Maritimes i have ridden a lot of bikes and can tell you these GS bikes are as good or better than any out there. I have friends with Harleys and Valkeries when we stop for a bite people walk past their bikes and start chatting me up about the old Suzuki maybe they are nostalgic. Thanks for the post see you out there sometime.

I was looking for help before I did something really wrong but he did response later with some help to why this happen and I sound like this could be part of my problem, I did response with a positive response back to him.
This bike is giving me hell going back together and my is upset because she not riding it yet. It been over a year going back together. But again THANKS:clap:

just ordered a valve cover gasket off fleabay. 20$ shipped. just gotta wait for it to arrive.
I have crimpers, and strippers, and a butane solder torch. Which I found perfect for running a ground from my rr to battery. If I remember correctly Morgan may have charging problems, as he told me his battery was leaking fluid through the overflow tube. It would be nice if it was a ground problem. Save him the price of an rr.
Sorry to take so long to reply. Still not sure, but am going to try to get by. Need anything ? Have torque wrench if needed. And lots of conventional tools.
Derrick, I just cleaned out my tank bag from my trip. Found a pair of needle nose pliers I think are yours.

I can certainly find a spare barb fitting here at work. I think I already have a couple in the garage that would be adequate.

As far as your sprockets go, have a look at the forum, but it's the same principle as on a bicycle. Smaller tooth numbers up front and bigger tooth numbers on the back will give you a bit more zip, but less top end. There should be a chart posted somewhere with final gear ratios. I've always read that you should have an even/odd combination to avoid the chain links always being grabbed by the same teeth, which would promote premature wear.

Not sure about your oil separators...I have not run across that part with the 650. It could be specific to the twins.

i had an idea about that recently, i've got a spare radiator overflow bottle from my car we could use, just need to drill a hole and put a barb fitting in it.

as far as syncing a twin i think all you need to do is block 2 of the lines like you said.

looking at the gaskets on bike bandit, do i need the oil separators as well?

and how are you about figuring out which sprockets to use? i want to give my bike a bit more accel. but not sure what to do with the sprockets... stock for me is 16 front and 45 rear. with a 530-104 chain. going to need to order that too.
    R
i am around and mobile, haven't gotten the cap yet, gonna do that tomorrow morning i think.

let me know when you want to do that, i'm gonna order new sprockets and chain, guess i'll get a valve cover gasket while im at it cause i need to do the valves too, my self...

i don't suppose you have the syncing tool do you?
Just noticed I posted my reply to you in my own box. Not to bright. Anyway, I joined the southern BC group. The get together sounds like a great idea. Count me in.
    Thanx Garth

Haha, ya know, I haven't done anything with my exhaust :) I got used to the sound, and kinda like it. I plan to entirely customize the bike this winter (or sooner if I get another bike to ride), and will likely revamp the exhaust at that point. Good to hear your exhaust worked out! It inspires me to improve the condition of my pony. But first, it looks like it's time for a head gasket :/
I think you should be able to repack your muffler if the case is fine structurally. I have some old pipes off an '81GL coming to me from a mechanic in Quebec. From all appearances, they should be much more functional that the ones currently on my '83.

I am pretty sure the exhaust all bolts together, and I am considering switched the 4/2 config for a 4/1, or at least bringing both pipes down one side. The most pressing issue is that she is loud as hell, though there are other reasons that would be the case. Sounds like yours is worse off than mine!! It is just the interior of the mufflers that are shot on mine, they are still all shiny and chromey on the outside...
