I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

OK it's difficult to know where you are with this without a pic. The choke cable comes through the curved tube attached to the carb tops. The cable should have about 3 inches protruding from that tube with the handlebar choke lever in the fully off position. It then connects to the choke...

Oh dear - that really told me. He he was talking about cam cover bolts. NOT cam cap bolts. Yes of course cam cap bolts need to be torqued to spec. But the cam cover bolts need very little. Finger tight and a quarter to half extra turn works just great. I've never had a leak. With your...

    Stator, The GSR travelling mascot.

Right Stator is rested up and needs to move on. He's currently with me in Canterbury, UK but I'm willing to send him and his trunk of goodies on to anyone on the planet. Let me know . . . . . . . .

Just take some float bowl drain plugs out and see if there is fuel in the float bowls.

Oh well done you. Now when you put the new ones in make sure they go in the correct way. Did you see them whilst they were in there? The 2 sharp edges should be pointing away from the carb bodies. Put a little clear grease around them when you put them in. I'm not so sure about gas tanks. I...

Look at the picture in the post above. There are rubber seals in those shafts. You need to get the shafts out and replace them.

At the level of 8lbs you are better off going by feel. Those cam cap threads are easily pulled out. Finger tight and half a turn with an allen key pretty much does the job - maybe a little more if it isn't seated correctly. Then maybe another quarter turn after a run. I would never trust a...

    butterfly servicing

Depending on your level of technical expertise and confidence, you can certainly dissemble the throttle butterflies. I was a beginner when I did it. Just get some new screws for the butterflies as they will be damaged getting them out AND support the throttle rod from behind as you apply...

GS1100GK: noise & vibration in 4th / 5th gear - gear box? transmission? drive train?

Sounds like a gearbox bearing then. There is nothing else to do than to have the engine out and strip it right down IMHO. Perhaps drop the sump and look in the oil strainer and oil filter. You will most likely see some detritus either from a damaged bearing or the metal particles that have...

GS1100GK: noise & vibration in 4th / 5th gear - gear box? transmission? drive train?

Rear hub teeth look good. I'm suspecting something inside your gearbox (I'm sorry to say). Running the bike on the main stand, you should be able to eliminate the U joints and so on, just by narrowing down where the noise is coming from. If you are able, disconnect at the U joint and run the...

GS1100GK: noise & vibration in 4th / 5th gear - gear box? transmission? drive train?

If it was the rear spline or any component south of the engine/gearbox, why would it only mis-behave in 4th or 5th? I'm would be thinking something amiss in the gearbox. But what do I know?

GSX1100 / GS1150 EFE Rotor Rumble - or is it the Mains??!!

My noise is a clunking - no screeching at all. I'm guessing that this signifies big or little ends rather than mains.

One thing that might be upsetting your readings is the spring in the float bowl needle valve. The manual calls for float tabs to be "just in contact" with the needle valve when you take the measurement. Over time, the little springs in these needle valves compress and at some point become...

GSX1100 / GS1150 EFE Rotor Rumble - or is it the Mains??!!

OK so I just got the puller today. Took the rotor and starter clutch out and bump started the bike. Could it be cam end float knocking? Does seem to be coming from topside and there are no tappets lose. Otherwise its a big end / main bearing - isn't it? Oh pooh!!
