A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    1982 gs1100 gk

How are you coming along with getting it running again? I'm working on one as well... The wires are all misconnected and I'm going through the diagram connection by connection trying to get back to normal. FYI.. the pink wire goes nowhere (as far as I can tell anyway)

    GS550 Engines differences

You will need the matching carbs, air chamber, exhaust, the electronic ignition with the later model is pretty solid but you will also need the ignigtor and you will have to do some wiring. I have a Dyna S on a 78, points on a 77, and the ignigtor on an 80 (all 550s) the stock electronic system...

    2,000 Mile roadtrip on my '81 GS850G

Dunno most of that route but when you get to southern Illinois there are some great waterfalls to stop and visit... My gal and I have stopped at a few going through and it makes a nice stop on a hot summer ride. Anyway, the trip sounds awesome & have a great time!

    BS32SS interchangeability between GS850 & GS750

Can anyone chime in on BS32SS interchangeability between an 1980 GS850 & 1982 GS750... Yes, there is one jet size difference and the choke cable set up is different but, wanted to know if the rack spacing was the same? (It looks like the 750/16v intake boots were designed to retrofit an...

Picked up a Triumph Trophy 1200 today

Worth a shot to check it out... mine was pinched between the backbone & the tank and "needed carb work" (now that I think about it it may have been a carb vent line...)

Picked up a Triumph Trophy 1200 today

I had a '96... awesome machine, soaks up bad road like magic. Mind the vacume line routing under the tank, they get pinched easily and will mimic other problems. Practice the low speed stuff because they are top heavy at low speed! Clean wires and always keep yer battery fresh, electricaly...

Reduce Pod Air Flow vs Rejetting

Pod appologists will protest but, 2 other items of note. 1. "Rate of flow" is not the only issue. Please don't forget the role of the piston slide vacume chamber... That slide is supposed to start moving up at about 1/4 throttle to keep everything working right and air pressure in that top...

    Long Distance Interstate Riding

Truth. 80 in Chicago is culture shock after a nice calm day of midwest miles... It's outright hostile, like Central America or Connecticut This makes a lot of difference. Strong back, less pain and aches, less pain and aches, less fatiuge & distraction. Strong back and neck can save yer...

12 volt fuel shut off valves? Because.. that gawd awful vacuum petcock

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and as Steve mentions above the some of the 80 model GS vacuum valves were not the best design and were known to be problematic... and they were changed. That's one of 3 reasons why I was thinking of a electric mod. There are other solutions but, in the...

12 volt fuel shut off valves? Because.. that gawd awful vacuum petcock

In general I agree... though I'm not convinced the 1980 L is a multi year petcock with it's poor functional ity out of the box and modern corrosive fuel... perhaps perhaps not... But, like stator wiring on a goldwing, or fuse box mods on an XJ... sometimes there's another option besides stock...

12 volt fuel shut off valves? Because.. that gawd awful vacuum petcock

That's pretty much exactly what I had in mind, a soleniod valve... I was wondering if anyone had done it yet. The prime "works" its just one of those nasty little inset plastic screw primes... not something you would want to use every day. We have other bikes with regular valves, remembering...
