A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    1100 4V ignition timing

Yes, that's correct. The "T" mark is top dead center, "F" mark is idle advance and that third mark is full advance. My advancer had only one mark on the 2-3 side so I asked a question in this thread: http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?t=180941 I timed mine statically and...

    License Plates

Cool bbytes. Good luck in school. I came back here twice, once for school and once for family. The next time I leave this place I'm not coming back. One of the four corner states is a big consideration. See ya around.

    expected mpgs for a 1978 suzuki gs550e

What Tkent means is at lower rpm's the bike is not within its powerband and requires more fuel to do the same work. (typical riding conditions) For example, you're going to be travelling at 65 mph. In 6th gear the rpm's are 5500 and 5th gear you're at 5800 rpm. (just an example) The bike...

    License Plates

Yep. These guys are hilarious for sure. I remember when MisterCinders said this while replying to a new member who didn't know what model it was. Might be the funniest thing I've read on this forum and he was being serious. There wasn't one of these after the post :p. It's all in good fun...

    License Plates

Florida did away with the classic 25 yr. plate and now offers antique (30yrs). I think there's historical too which if I remember is prior to 1945.

    License Plates

If AZ doesn't have any restrictions for using the historic plate that's how I would go. It's just too cool to show that you're driving a classic. I waited until Dec. 29th just for my antique Flori-duh plate (that's for you Steve). The color is light blue which doesn't contrast as well with...

    Colored wiring diagrams

ValorSolo, Very nice of you to do this. They look great. So much easier on our eyes. :)

Road Rage! Note, avoid in future.

They pay attention to nothing else in Florida too. Mirrors should be an option anymore. The only one people would get is the rear view so they can look at themselves. It's worse for us because the population is higher. The fast lane has a governor built in. It's maybe like 62 or so. :)

Road Rage! Note, avoid in future.

Mine was a '96 with the 1.9 88hp OHV with 5spd.. It was my 1st car and had it 10 years. Sold it to a neighbor who needed it more than me. Still going. 165K miles. All original parts except water pump, brakes, belts, bulbs. It got 31 city/40 highway when driven moderately. When beating it...

Road Rage! Note, avoid in future.

:lol: No, I don't think we can trust the Prius drivers! :p The three up the ladder from me at work all drive one. Crazy. Ok Dogma. You're right. Not all that drive one are all bad. Isn't it pathetic when you have to pass these dumb fools in their Corvettes and such? When I owned my...

Road Rage! Note, avoid in future.

Pmong, wally. I don't know how you did it. Great self-control. Just reading your stories gives me the adrenalin feel and I don't think I could have let that go if it happened to me. My willingness to let it slide is better now than 10 years ago but not perfect. There's only so much I can...

    1983_GS750E - Rebuild

It's too bad with all your effort that this stuff gets in the way. It's good that you found out about the tire by spinning it in place and not while leaving the driveway. Great work though. That bike looks sweet. Actually I'd say better than new.

where is the oil pressure switch? 83 GS450L?

I imagine there has to be something there. Maybe a PO put in a plug to replace the switch. Any pictures?

    82 850GL Resto...here we go

That's funny Good Times. I say that you shouldn't ride it at all. It's too nice now. ;) I have been following this rebuild along with a few others. There are some really superb projects/rebuilds going on around here (yours included of course). Great work and patience with this. I imagine...

    charging help needed

Dave, Thanks for updating this. It is great to seal out moisture with this stuff njbaker. Suzuki ran one of the stator wires through a loop that travels to the headlight bucket and is a usual source of AC voltage loss. They did it for bikes that had a headlight switch but used a common...

    Squeak from rear shock

Did you check the top/bottom shock bushings as salty_monk said? Swing arm is not my first thought either. The squeak can absolutely be from sand/dirt caught and lack of chain lube. I clean the hell out of mine with kerosene. After this drive it for a few miles to warm everything up, then come...

    charging help needed

If the wiring is correct have you run the stator wires directly to the R/R bypassing the headlight loop? Wired the R/R negative to battery? The problem most likely lies in your connections. Ditch the stock charging connectors for new ones and dab them in dielectric grease too. If this is...

    Coil swap 650 to 850?

That's great news!! :D Did you leave the 650 coils on? Are the ones from the 850 shot? A nice ride on a Monday sounds good. If this Tropical Storm would give me a couple of hours without rain/wind I'd burn off some petrol too.
