A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Here's an '06 DR650 in Chesterton Indiana with aftermarket exhaust, seat, and what looks like a Vapor instrument replacement for $3k.

    To KLR or not?

That bike would take you around the world if you wanted to. The XR/XL line has been around for quite a long time and is probably a bulletproof as the KLR line. Joe

    To KLR or not?

Hey now! '95 XR600R Not as comfortable as a KLR but plenty comfortable for limited pavement duty. This isn't a concern for me as this bike is used strictly for off road trips. It is street legal enough to ride on the street if necessary. Power, suspension, handling, and weight all stomp the...

US MotoGP coverage Rant - No Spoiler

Here in the US Fox Sports 1 covers MotoGP. For the overseas rounds they have the US announcers do the introduction and then turn the broadcast over to the European commentators Nick Harris and Gavin Emmett who do a very good job in my opinion. Of course, they have the Fox commentator break in...

1979 Harley Davidson RR250 Daytona Road Race Bike

Harley-Davidson purchased Italian manufacturer Aermacchi as a way to be competitive when the Japanese two strokes began winning road races and badged them as Harleys. They were pretty successful and won a few World Championship titles. The Harley four stroke 250's of the same era were also...

    The "Adventure" Begins...............

Tim, If you're looking for a nice morning warm up, take 185 south, turn left on A, right on T, then right on 185 to take you back to 44. We just rode this bit over the weekend and it is very nice. If you'd like to extend this a bit and still be heading west, turn left on 185 after riding A and...

    road america ahrma next weekend

Cathy and I went to this event last year and had a great time. We met Mr. Bridgeport along with a lot of other vintage enthusiasts. We will not be attending this year but wish everyone a safe and fun trip. One thing that is definitely worth doing is the 'Touring Laps' Saturday and Sunday at...

Who says modern bikes are complicated?

Dave, The ECU is too buried to even get a pic of it but it is just a black box with two connectors. Tuners crack the ECU and figure out what pins they can use to access the data magically stored in the black box and then how to modify the data. There is a surprising amount of functionality...

    Spoke Question

While I have never laced spokes this way I do not believe it can be done. The inside/outside spoke arrangement allows clearance for the spot where the spokes cross over each other. If they are all inserted the same way they will interfere with each other at the crossing point. I have never seen...

Who says modern bikes are complicated?

All the above will be corrected. I have a decent amount of room under the seat to install a power distribution setup that is much more accessible. I fabricated a bracket, added a fuse block and ground terminal strip. I ran 8 gauge wire from the battery to the switched main relay, ground...

    Spoke Wheel Lacing Tutorial

Sharpy, DUH! I hope your 'spoke guy' who has decades of experience can lace and true wheels very quickly. I can too, probably not as quickly as him but much quicker than my first couple attempts. Obviously, he is not the intended audience for the tutorials. The intended audience is people who...

Who says modern bikes are complicated?

The ECU is buried in there as well.......not easy to find or access. I'm glad I got the on bike cable for the tuner. The other option was a bench cable which requires the ECU to be removed from the bike any time you want to tweak or change maps. Thanks, Joe

Who says modern bikes are complicated?

Browsing the Super T?ner? forums I found that Yamaha restricts throttle opening significantly in the first three gears and that an ECU flash makes a big difference in power delivery and driveability. So I purchased a Flash Tune on bike cable, software, and maps. I had to access the ECU to add...

    Spoke Wheel Lacing Tutorial

Part 2 of the tutorial has been completed. A friend of mine, sometime GSR contributor Groove Daddy, has created a website and asked if he could post it there first and then link to it here. I'm not clear on the reasons but it has something to do with search engine rankings so I'm going to help...

    Spoke Wheel Lacing Tutorial

Sharpy, You obviously have a better eye than me, I didn't even notice the marks. Regardless, I'm selling this wheel and it was disassembled. I told the buyer I would put it together so he would have a reference as to how to build it. He plans to disassemble again to clean and polish. While I...
